Obituary for Mary Thompson Humiston

Mary E Thompson Humiston of Dania Beach, FL went to join the Lord on August 20, 2022 after a brief
illness. Born on February 27, 1927 in Watertown, CT daughter of Harold E and Mary V Thompson. Mary
was a resident of Watertown for 87 years prior to moving to Florida to live with her son.

Predeceased in death by her husband Richard G Humiston, sons James W and Thomas H Humiston.
Survived by sons Ralph W and Craig A Humiston; daughter in laws Cheryl, Pat, and Mary Ellyn
Humiston; stepchildren Richard Humiston and Rosalie Gosselin; grandchildren Daniel Humiston and
Kelley McGuiness, Justin and Missy Humiston, Travis and Shannon Humiston and Jessica Humiston.
Great grandchildren Jeremiah, Andre, Lyrical, Johnny, Ostin, Liam, Gabriel, Rowan, Charlotte Rose and
Abigail as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mary was a farmer’s daughter, a member of the First Congregational Church of Watertown where she
served as a deaconess and Sunday school teacher and was a Den Coach when her boys were in Cub
Scouts.

Mary enjoyed singing and dancing and was a member of Sweet Adeline’s and the Thomaston Chorale
Club. Mary worked as a SNET switchboard operator, dispatcher for the Watertown Police Department
and a day care teacher at Taft Child Development Program before retiring in 2014.

Service date: Memorial service at First Presbyterian Church, Hollywood, FL on 18th September at 12pm/ Service at First Congregational Church, Watertown, CT on 22nd October at 4pm.

Donations may be made to the American Association for the Blind or the Watertown CT Fire
Department.
