Obituary for Helder Norberto Dias

Helder N. B. Dias 70, of Deerfield Beach, Florida passed away on August

12, 2021 at Broward Health North

Born in Angra do Heroismo, Terceira on June (7) 25, 1951. He was the
son of the late of Joao and Luzia (Machado) Dias of New Bedford,
Massachusetts. He was the beloved father of Elizabeth Dias (RI), Helder
Dias Jr. (FL), Christine Dias-Marshall (GA), and Charlene Dias (MA). He
had 7 grandchildren, Ryan da Estrela-Dias, Jasmine Joiner, Kyle Dias,
Serrena Hernandez, Miranda Dias, Jared Dias and Ian Marshall, and one
great granddaughter Aaliyah. Brother of Lisette de Sousa (Lino) of MA
and Elsa Camara of MA. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews,
godchildren.

Helder owned Deluxe Tours and Travel, J&H Transportation, and drove
bus for Pawtucket Valley Bus Lines for many years. Most recently he
was a Security Guard in Florida which he loved to do. He was in the
seminary in Terceira for 7 years as a young man. He flew planes, and
obtained his pilot license from New Bedford Airport. He was President
of LASA Association in New Bedford, MA. He was a soccer enthusiast,
and became a FIFA Referee in 1992. He was well traveled and visited

many States and Countries throughout his life. He loved music and
played the harmonica and accordion he was self-taught.

There will be a Mass to celebrate his life at Saint Ambrose Catholic
Church 380 Federal Hwy, Deerfield Beach, FL at 9:30AM on Tuesday,

August 31, 2021

The church will provide a LIVE FEED of the Mass so family and friends

There will also be a Mass to celebrate his life at The Cathedral of Saints
Peter & Paul 30 Fenner Street, Providence, RI in September (Date to be announced)
