Obituary for Carlos Hernandez

Carlos Hernandez was born November 5th, 1937, in Trujillo, Puerto Rico. He later moved to St. Croix, V.I. Where he met his late wife, Violeta Hernandez. Carlos served in the Army and was a proud civil servant working as a postal worker for forty years.

Even though he left the islands to come to Florida in the 70’s, he never left his roots. He loved Puerto Rican music, watching baseball (win or lose he was a loyal Braves fan), and eating a home-cooked Puerto Rican meal, especially his wife’s “killer rice.” He had a great sense of humor, often joking that he taught her everything she knew about cooking.

Carlos enjoyed a simple life in the home he loved, you could find him enjoying a cold one on his porch or scratching off lotto tickets in his special chair at the dining room table. Over the years, he had many dogs with which he shared a special bond.

Carlos is survived by his 9 children including Edel Hernandez-Molina, Pauline Hernandez, Carlos Hernandez II, Lynn Nazario, Taryn Baltazar, and Benjamin Nazario. He was beloved by his grandchildren; Sharyl Mock, Orlando Remak, Jesus and Joseph Nazario, Arlo and Nola Perkins-Hernandez, Luis and Eduardo Molina.
