On Friday March 26, 2021 Capt. Carl B. Borup passed away due to his many battles of health
issues at Broward Health Medical Center at the age of 84.
Carl was born February 13, 1937 in Houston, Tx to Authur and Mary(Mae) Borup. Carl was a
veteran of the US Navy and served on the USS Clamagore(1953-1957). After the US Navy,
he became a non-commissioned officer of the US Coast Guard. Carl’s passion for the sea
drew him to this career, in which he loved. Carl retired from the Port Everglades Pilot
Association after 21 years of service.
Carl’s secondary passion was lived out through his love of antique cars. His amazement of the
engineering complexities of Henry Ford’s Model A’s and T’ brought him great pleasure during
his retirement. He also enjoyed the adventures of cruising with his companion and friends. To
those who shared this passion and joy with him, our family thanks you for the friendship and
memories you all have shared with him.
Carl was preceded in death by his father Authur, his mother Mae, sons Carl Patrick and Charles
Borup. Carl is survived by his brother Jimmy Borup, son Andy(Trudy) Borup, daughters Dana
Black and Kathy(Clifford) Waters. Five grandchildren: Charlotte Black, Katie(Johnny) Squardo,
Jessica Gracia, Lauren(Adam) Forgey and Gerald Waters. Four great-grandchildren: Jaylee and
Cameron Garcia, Graham and Greyson Forgey.
